FitNutrition Katie Jeffrey

Katie earned her B.A. in Sociology from Fairfield University where she played Division I Field Hockey.  She worked for two years at the Pfizer Inc. corporate Fitness Center before returning to school to pursue her career goals of nutrition, wellness and physical activity.  She graduated summa cum laude with a Masters Degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut.

Katie completed her dietetic internship at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT where her internship provided her with broad field experience in hospital, long term care and outpatient facilities as well as community nutrition, corporate and sports programs.  Katie then sat for the national board examination leading to her registered dietitian (R.D.) certification.

Katie is also a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) and is the Sports Dietitian for Providence College athletes in Providence, Rhode Island.

Because of Katie's passion for mindful eating and living, she became a Licensed Am I Hungry?® facilitator. Katie works with individuals to discover why they eat. Is their eating fueled by physical hunger, emotional or "head" hunger or environmental triggers? By reducing eating from emotions and/or environmental influences individuals will be able to reach their optimal health and weight WITHOUT dieting, deprivation or guilt.

Katie’s experience working with children, adolescents and adults spans a wide range of nutritional counseling.She is a regular contributor to the CT Style Show and an experienced presenter to small and large groups with topics such as:

  • Healthy eating to optimize energy and reduce disease
  • Pre, during and post exercise fueling to reach your full athletic potential
  • Hydration, fluid selection and your athletic performance
  • Eat to reduce inflammation
  • What to look for on food labels
  • How to eat healthy to optimize your health
  • Healthy snacks for kids' growth and learning
  • Smart holiday eating
  • Tips for preparing nutritious and delicious meals and baked goods
